PRAY FOR OUR TEENS
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it” (John 15, 7)
We acknowledge the importance of the simplicity and perseverance in prayer, even in tiredness and apparent inaction.
Elderly people can teach us this value.
“There is no misery that could be a match for My mercy, neither will misery exhaust it, because as it is being granted it increases. The soul that trusts in My mercy is most fortunate, because I myself take care of it.” (Jesus to Sr Faustina, recorded in her Diary 1273)
We believe that Jesus will not abandon us, even in the most challenging moments of our lives and we trust in His word.
“The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. Moses said to Joshua,“Pick out some men to go and fight the Amalekites tomorrow. I will stand on top of the hill holding the stick that God told me to carry”. Joshua did as Moses commanded him and went out to fight the Amalekites, while Moses, Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his arms, the Israelites won, but when he put his arms down, the Amalekites started winning. When Moses’ arms grew tired, Aaron and Hur brought a stone for him to sit on, while they stood beside him and held up his arms, holding them steady until the sun went down. In this way Joshua totally defeated the Amalekites.
The Lord will continue to fight against the Amalekites for ever!” (Exodus 17, 8-16)
We are asking God to help us recognise and be grateful for the power of the prayers of those who are elderly, or suffer, have a disability. We want to help them raise their hands to God, especially for our young people who, in the world, are like Joshua fighting the Amalekites.
